1 – Fill out and send your application

  1. Please go to our application web page.
  2. Follow the four easy steps in the application process where you will enter your email address, choose the course you would like to take, select your preferred course date, and tell us a little about yourself: your education, your interests, your expectations and your reasons for wanting to be an English teacher.
  3. If your application is accepted, we will arrange an admission interview with you.

2 – Attend your admission interview

IMPORTANT: This course is a UK government-regulated qualification, so it must meet official quality controls, one of which is the admission interview. Trinity College London will not allow you to take the course if you do not take and pass the admission interview.

  1. We will arrange an admission interview time with you.
  2. You can choose ZOOM, WhatsApp, Skype or Viber for the admission interview.
  3. The interview has seven standard questions, a short English test and a hand-written piece of around 200 words describing why you would like to be an English teacher.
  4. The interviewer writes down your answers, take notes and comments on your verbal ability, comprehension and ability to reason logically.
  5. If you pass the interview, you receive an acceptance letter and instructions for enrolling on the course.

3 – Enrol

  1. When you get your acceptance letter, we strongly recommend sending your deposit to guarantee your course place. We allocate course places on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. When you have guaranteed your place, your dedicated student adviser will give you all the information you need for the course and travel (if you are travelling).

NOTE: Your admission’s interview file is registered with Trinity College London and audited by the Trinity College London appointed external course moderator at the end of your course.

This course prepares you to:

  1. teach English as a foreign language (TEFL)
  2. teach English to speakers of other languages (TESOL)

The course also includes lifetime, worldwide job placement that helps you get an English teaching job whenever you want.

When you graduate, you will:

  1. get a Trinity CertTESOL, one of the world’s two leading accredited TESOL certificates
  2. get an EBC International TEFL Certificate
  3. be a qualified English teaching professional capable of getting English teaching jobs almost anywhere in the world;
  4. understand language use and analysis;
  5. be knowledgeable of teaching theory and its practical application;
  6. know how to manage your classroom;
  7. be able to identify student learning difficulties and develop remedial action plans;
  8. know how to plan, design and develop and deliver effective lessons;
  9. be able to teach in both a TEFL and TESOL classroom environment.

The course has five foundation units. You must pass all of them to pass the course.

Unit 1: Teaching skills – You get assessed through your trainer’s evaluation of your six teaching hours with Genuine English language learners. A journal including your lesson plans, with self-evaluation and tutor evaluation. You write a journal covering your reflective comments following the observation of four hours of ESOL teaching by experienced teachers.

Unit 2: Language awareness – This is assessed by your grade on a language test covering grammar and phonology. Your trainer also evaluates your use of spoken and written English in your coursework.

Unit 3: Learner profile – You get assessed by preparing a simple linguistic profile and needs analysis, including some basic phonemic transcription, of an English language learner. The planning of and reflection on a one-to-one lesson that you arrange and teach. The preparation of recommendations for the learner’s future language development.

Unit 4: Materials assignment – You get assessed through a written rationale for developing one piece of teaching material. A Trinity moderator interviews you to discuss the above and how materials development is beneficial to the development of teaching skills.

Unit 5: Unknown language – You get assessed through a journal covering your reflective comments on four hours’ unknown language training you get from the point of view of the beginner. This includes an analysis of the critical aspects of methods and classroom management that affect you positively and negatively.

It's been a week since I completed the EBC TEFL course, and I would describe it in three adjectives: intensive, time-consuming, and totally worth it.The first two weeks were truly overwhelming; it felt like a real brain drain, from trying to manage my time effectively to simply absorbing everything mentally. The whole experience was mentally exhausting, you really have to get ready for this. The workflow and rhythm were completely different compared to what I was used to, especially with the shift to an online setup. It required major adjustments in almost every aspect, from lesson planning and managing digital tools to keeping up with an overload of information coming at me all at once. At times, it felt like my brain was in overdrive, constantly processing, adapting, and trying to keep everything afloat.Time management played a crucial role in this course, and it was definitely one of the biggest challenges. Balancing everything wasn’t easy, especially because studying was not something you could just skim through or do passively. There was a significant amount of reading involved, and it wasn’t just about going through the materials—it required deep comprehension. Every reading material had to be thoroughly understood in order to apply the concepts effectively, especially when it came to creating well-structured and meaningful lesson plans. Simply put, reading for the sake of reading wasn’t enough; you had to analyze, reflect, and connect the ideas to your own teaching practices. That level of mental engagement, combined with tight schedules and multiple tasks, really pushed me to develop better time management skills and stay organized throughout the process. The learning curve was steep, and balancing everything was a real challenge.It was truly a complete package of learning and experience. The teachers were absolutely amazing—smart, supportive, and deeply committed to helping us succeed. Whatever questions we had, they were always there to guide us, making sure we understood what was needed to pass and thrive in the course. Their support went far beyond simple assistance; they were incredibly generous with their knowledge, offering insights not just for lesson planning, but also for exams and preparing for interviews. Honestly, the word “assistance” feels too shallow to describe the kind of wisdom and encouragement they shared with us.I thought the 20 days training felt like long, but as I immersed myself in the process, time flew by. And now, looking back, I genuinely miss it. I miss the lessons, the routine, and especially the classmates who eventually became like a fellowship—a community built on sharing ideas, struggles, and encouragement. Some of the tasks and questions were tough, but that’s where the strength of the group came in. We supported each other, collaborated, and pushed one another toward better understanding and better outcomes.The course was totally worth it because it provided not only theoretical knowledge but also practical skills that I can directly apply in real teaching scenarios. It challenged me to grow both personally and professionally, pushing me out of my comfort zone and helping me build confidence. Saying "I recommend this school" is an understatement. I think that there are several key factors we need to take into account when recommending a school to anyone which include: A school that complies with the standards, A school that fosters a supportive environment, and A school that provides a quality type of learning and EBC have met all of these.The CertTESOL is recognized as a Level 5 qualification, It is an intensive and demanding course that covers a wide range of teaching methodologies, language analysis, and practical teaching experience. I can confidently say that this is by far the most challenging course I have taken so far. The amount of paperwork and practical tasks you need to complete to pass the course is staggering but understandable because this is, of course, an intensive course. Everything you need to learn about teaching the English language is squeezed into 20 days' worth of classes. Despite that, the rewards of gaining this lifelong professional qualification far outweigh the stress of the course.The composition of the course is well thought out. A unit dedicated to learning an unknown language for example I think is essential for us, as English Teachers to expose us to the different teaching styles we can make use of when delivering English Lessons to ELL Students. The Teaching Practice also allows individuals who have zero experience in teaching to be exposed to an actual classroom setting.Although I mentioned that this is the hardest course I have taken so far, the support I received from my peers my Trainer, Iza, and the Managing Director, Tita was immeasurable. They are there every step of course. From pre-qualification to moderation, they have provided us with the best support. We were even given one-on-one feedback throughout the entirety of the course to monitor our progress and discuss the things we need to improve on. Because of this, It helped me achieve my full potential.This course is not only for those who have zero experience in Teaching and want to shift careers and be part of the academe. But also for those who already have experience in teaching like me who would like to further their qualification. It was 4 weeks long, and very intense, but I learnt a lot and felt sufficiently equipped to begin my career as a EFL teacher, especially because of the teaching practice with real students from around the world.
